During 2024, the Division on Addiction will engage in a variety of independent education, outreach, and research activities related to responsible and problem gambling. The scope of work will include the development of an on-demand continuing education course for allied health professionals to learn about gambling harm from perspectives of a former gambler, an active gambler, and academic researchers;  translation of Gambling Disorder screening materials into Haitian Creole, Brazilian Portuguese, and Vietnamese to be distributed to community-based organizations for Gambling Disorder Screening Day; contributions to the Division’s Brief Addiction Science Information Source (BASIS) research blog; and, a research project designed to illuminate gambling and gambling health, by focusing on responsible gambling messaging and message fatigue.

In addition to these independent projects, the Division will collaborate on the development of an employee-facing responsible gambling training that centers gaming industry employees’ needs.

The Division and DraftKings have collaborated since 2016 on a variety of basic and applied research, as well as Responsible Gaming consultation, education, and training.
