Principal Investigator: Sarah E. Nelson, Ph.D.
Funder: International Center for Responsible Gaming
Timeline: 2025 – 2027

This two-year grant will support the adaptation of First Face for Mental Health (First Face), a culturally-grounded community mental health curriculum, for Tribal gaming employees. First Face was co-created by the Healing Lodge of the Seven Nations, the Division on Addiction, and Dr. Martina Whelshula. In the first year of this project, in collaboration with a Working Group of Tribal leaders and Tribal gaming representatives, Drs. Nelson, LaPlante, and Whelshula will oversee the adaptation of First Face to include culturally-grounded gambling content and gaming-specific scenarios and multi-media.

In the second year, we will oversee the implementation of First Face for Tribal Gaming trainings at Tribal casinos, as well as the evaluation of those trainings through pre-, post-, and 6-month follow-up surveys of trainees.
