Timeline: September – December 2026
The Computerized Assessment & Referral System (CARS) is a screening software tool for substance use and mental health conditions in impaired driving settings originally developed in 2011 by the Division on Addiction with Responsibility.org. From September to December 2026, the Division on Addiction will provide maintenance support for CARS-SC and CARS Connect. Support for CARS Connect will be provided by working with Spinutech, the company that adapted CARS for the cloud. Maintenance for the CARS-SC and CARS Connect transition will involve responding to anticipated increased support needs by (1) providing user support through newly created support materials and responding to user support requests, (2) troubleshooting CARS Connect and working with Spinutech to release fixes, (3) updating materials on carstrainingcenter.org to enhance user experience, and (4) funding ongoing technological and maintenance costs.
