Blake W. is 44 years old. He is in his lawyer’s office awaiting sentencing.

Blake has pleaded guilty to robbing banks.

At age 8, Blake was “blind-sided” by his parents’ divorce. After his father remarried, his new stepmother physically and emotionally abused him. At about age 13, a nanny sexually abused him.

Blake W. always wanted to become important. He wanted to make his father proud; his father was a very successful businessman. At age 38, after receiving about 2 million dollars from the sale of the family business, Blake began to gamble. Gambling made him feel important. After some early big wins, he started to lose. Blake lost almost all of his money. Soon, the bank was foreclosing on his house. Despondent after an argument with his wife, he drank solvents in an attempt to kill himself.

Blake awaits sentencing. He is very anxious, but committed to his recovery. He is actively involved in therapy and Gambler’s Anonymous (GA).

He is haunted by the shadows of his life.
