Are alcohol-related disparities between LGB and heterosexual youth decreasing?

LGB youth are more likely to engage is risky drinking than their heterosexual peers, possibly because they experience the stress of being part of a stigmatized group. If the minority stress explanation holds true, then, as communities become more accepting of LGB people, the disparities iin LGB and heterosexual kids’ drinking should decrease. As part of our Special Series on Youth Risky Behavior, this week The DRAM reviews a study of drinking among LGB and heterosexual youth between 1998 – 2013.
